American pop “idol” Kelly Clarkson has done the right thing and dropped her tobacco sponsorship for her Jakarta concert on April 29. Billboards and television ads featuring her beneath a cigarette brand logo have been cancelled.
It’s a bit late, as thousands of her young fans have already had their brains polluted with her promotional campaign. Her defence that she was unaware that a tobacco company was backing her Indonesian gig just makes her look lazy and irresponsible. But it’s better late than never, and for that I offer her these flowers.
